Undergraduate Programme

THE DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED GEOPHYSICS

The B.Tech in Applied Geophysics programme has been uniquely designed to qualify graduates for rewarding careers in Oil & Gas exploration and Production industries, mining, civil engineering, minerals and gemstone industries, business and commerce. This enables the graduates to:

  • undertake fieldwork relating to geophysical survey for raw data acquisition, processing and interpretation for minerals, oil and gas, groundwater, environmental impact studies and engineering site investigation;
  • work as consultants in exploration and processing of data and recommending sites for drilling;
  • undertake research in specialized areas of Applied Geophysics;
  • handle general supervisory functions / roles in the exploration industry; and
  • establish small scale exploration firms thereby reducing dependence on government white-collar jobs.
